Percolating with satire, mystery and affection for the city, and exploring the sacred rite of coffee drinking as well as New Orleans' civil rights history, the novel is narrated by B. Sammy Singleton, the agnostic, 10-years-sober son of a Baptist minister who now is writing a guidebook to downtown coffee shops. Lummis will sign the book at Faubourg Marigny Art and Books during the Satchmo Club Strut on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
