NOTES: River House Publishing, publisher of The Coffee Shop Chronicles of New Orleans (www.coffeeshopchronicles.c?om), is hosting a book signing in its Marigny Street garden and courtyard during the Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association (FMIA) "Artists in Residence" Home & Garden Tour. Artists and authors featured during the event include: renowned painters George Rodrigue and James Michalopoulos; award-winning filmmaker Jim Gabou...r, producer/director of the Grammy nominated film Flow with Terence Blanchard, and of the worldwide No. 1 music DVD, "Norah Jones: Live in New Orleans"; veteran author, director, playwright, and screenwriter Glen Pitre (Belizaire the Cajun, Hurricane on the Bayou, Cigarettes & Nylons), who collaborates with wife Michele Benoit in a variety of media; and authors Troy Gilbert (Dinner with Tennessee Williams), Jerry Edgar (The Café Degas Cookbook), David Lummis (The Coffee Shop Chronicles of New Orleans), Kristin Fouquet (Twenty Stories), Michael Allen Zell (Stitches of Light), and Stephanie Bruno (New Orleans Streets), with Fabourg Marigny Art & Books offering additional local titles. Throughout the courtyard event, Zazou City will play New Orleans Gypsy Jazz; Sonoma Valley vineyard Fess Parker Winery will provide its newly created wine, "The Big Easy"; and local eateries including The Cake Café and Sucre will provide sumptuous edibles.

Washington Square Park (700 Elysian Fields) is the epicenter of the Home Tour from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, hosting an art market and musical performances by local talent. Tour-goers can purchase tickets from 11 am – 3 pm on May 15, 2011 for the self-guided walking tour or via www.faubourgmarigny.org. As you purchase your ticket, register to win the door prize of three nights at River House, a luxury guest house in the Faubourg Marigny (www.riverhouseneworleans.c?om) and home of Coffee Shop Chronicles author David Lummis and his novel's narrator. Marigny residents, visitors young and old as well as locals from around the city come together in Washington Square Park to sing Christmas carols, enjoy hot apple cider to get into the holiday spirit. The Art Market, which will be from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, will host renowned local artists who will showcase and sell their work.
